Norwegian Advances Sustainability Efforts
Norwegian Cruise Line has partnered with the Global Maritime Forum (GMF), a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable maritime practices, to further its commitment to environmental stewardship. This collaboration aligns with NCLH’s Sail & Sustain program which aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
NCLH’s CEO, Harry Sommer, emphasized the importance of cross-sector partnerships in driving innovation and positive change. The company plans to actively participate in GMF initiatives, including the Getting to Zero Coalition, which aims to develop zero-emission vessels by 2030.
This partnership highlights NCLH’s focus on collaboration, one of the three pillars of its climate action strategy, alongside efficiency and innovation. The company is also exploring opportunities to promote human sustainability and inclusion within the maritime industry.
Established in 2017, GMF has successfully fostered dialogue and collective action among maritime leaders. Notably, it spearheaded the Poseidon Principles, a framework guiding financial institutions to integrate climate considerations into lending decisions.
NCLH, operating Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, boasts a fleet of 31 ships and serves approximately 700 destinations worldwide. The company is committed to reducing its environmental impact while providing exceptional vacation experiences.
GMF, an independent non-profit organization, envisions a decarbonized maritime industry that supports sustainable development and human well-being.
This partnership underscores NCLH’s dedication to sustainability and its willingness to collaborate with industry leaders to achieve its ambitious environmental goals.tunesharemore_vert
