Road Trip: Consumers Will Plan Frugally
Although Americans are eager to travel this summer, rising costs on necessities like automotive insurance are affecting their plans. Experian aims to alleviate these financial burdens by providing free tools, such as an insurance marketplace that can save consumers hundreds on auto and home insurance policies. A survey by Experian revealed that most consumers feel inflation has impacted their road trips, with gas and accommodations being the major expenses.
“There are many expenses to consider when planning a vacation and every penny counts. We
want to help consumers achieve their financial goals whether it’s managing debt, increasing
their FICO® Score 6 , or saving money for that dream vacation,” said Rod Griffin, senior director
of Public Education and Advocacy for Experian.
Inflation is significantly impacting consumers’ summer road trip plans, with gas, accommodation, and rising car insurance costs being major concerns. However, Experian offers solutions to mitigate these financial pressures. Its insurance marketplace can help drivers find better rates, and its credit card marketplace can connect consumers with cards offering travel rewards or cash back. These tools, along with weekly #CreditChat sessions on X, aim to empower consumers to enjoy their travels without overspending.
A major car expense to keep in mind is auto insurance, and consumers should make sure they
have the right insurance for their travels and for the long-term. In fact, 3 out of 4 consumers
surveyed by Experian are worried about insurance rates increasing in the next 12 months while
almost a third of respondents plan on switching carriers in the next six months. Among survey
respondents who are currently shopping for auto insurance, 14 percent reside in Texas and 11
percent are in Florida.
