Viking Signs Contract For Two More Ships, Option For Four More. Ocean Fleet Total Now 22 Ships

Fincantieri and Viking have entered into a significant agreement for the construction of two new cruise ships, set to be delivered by 2030, with an additional option for four more ships to be delivered in 2031 and 2032. This contract, which is contingent on financial arrangements and customary terms, underscores the ongoing partnership between the two companies, which began in 2012 and now includes a total of 22 ships. The new vessels, part of the small cruise ship segment, will each have a gross tonnage of about 54,300 tons and accommodate 998 passengers in 499 cabins.

These ships will not only feature the latest in environmental and navigational technology but will also incorporate innovations from the joint efforts of Fincantieri and Viking in developing eco-friendly and zero-emission systems. Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, highlighted the importance of this order in reinforcing Fincantieri’s position as a leader in naval engineering, emphasizing its focus on sustainable technologies and the long-term stability of their shipyards. This deal further solidifies the strategic collaboration, aiming at advancing the cruise industry towards greater sustainability and technological advancement.
