New research by Evernest compiled a list of properties from 24 famous movies and TV shows and revealed just how much money it would actually take to own some of them, showing the real-life annual income and net worth needed to afford these legendary homes. To achieve that, their values were estimated based on comparable real estate prices in the depicted locations, and calculations were done to identify the financial requirements using consistent assumptions. The required annual income was derived from the total annual housing cost, and the net worth required was estimated as the down payment plus ten years of housing costs. This approach provided a clear picture of the financial demands for owning these iconic properties.

Ranked second is Tony Stark’s cliffside mansion from Iron Man. Located at 10880 Malibu Point, this 8-bedroom, 10-bathroom futuristic home has an estimated value of $117 million. To afford it, you’d need an annual income of $28.9 million and a net worth of $110 million. Its state-of-the-art features and breathtaking ocean views make it a top-tier luxury home.
Ranked third, Gatsby’s Mansion from The Great Gatsby, located in Kings Point, Long Island, New York, is valued at $85 million. This estate with 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms requires an annual income of $20.9 million and a net worth of nearly $79.9 million to afford. The high cost is influenced not only by the size of the mansion but also by the premium location on Long Island.
The iconic mansion from Scarface ranks fourth with an estimated value of $60 million. Despite its on-screen Miami setting, the real mansion is located in Montecito, California. Owning this luxurious 6-bedroom, 8-bathroom estate would require an annual income of $14.8 million and a net worth of $56.4 million, showcasing the allure and high maintenance costs of such a property.
The Gossip Girl Penthouse takes the fifth spot with a value of $18,8 million. Located on 5th Avenue in New York City, this luxury 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom penthouse requires an annual income of $4,6 million and a net worth of $17.7 million. The high cost of living in New York City, as well as the prestige of a 5th Avenue address, elevates the financial demands, making this iconic property one of the most sought-after yet expensive homes from the list.
In sixth place, the Pemberley Estate from Pride and Prejudice, located in Derbyshire, England, is valued at $10.9 million. To own this grand estate with over 20 rooms, one would need an annual income of $2.6 million and a net worth of about $10.2 million. While not as costly as some of the other properties, the estate’s historical significance and extensive grounds add to the financial requirements.
The Godfather House on 110 Longfellow Avenue in Staten Island, New York, takes the seventh spot, valued at approximately $8.9 million. This 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom mansion requires an annual income of $2.2 million and a net worth of $8.6 million. The value is backed by the property’s association with the legendary film and its desirable location.
Ranked eighth is the iconic Victorian house from Full House, located on Broderick Street in San Francisco. Despite being the smallest on the list with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, its $6.5 million price tag is far from modest. You’d need an annual income of $1.6 million and a net worth of $6.1 million to afford this nostalgic gem.
Ranked ninth, Lucifer’s penthouse on Hollywood Boulevard is valued at $6 million. This stylish property requires an annual income of $1.4 million and a net worth of $5.6 million. A spokesperson from Evernest commented on the study: “Owning iconic properties like those seen in movies and TV shows often seems like a dream, but the financial reality is staggering. High property values, along with significant taxes, insurance, and maintenance costs, make these homes accessible only to those with substantial wealth. It’s a reminder that the allure of these famous homes comes with financial responsibilities that extend far beyond the initial purchase price. This study shows the gap between on-screen fantasy and real-world affordability, demonstrating just how much income and net worth are required to live like a character from your favorite show.”
