AIDA Adds National Geographic Day Tour
AIDA Cruises, the leading German cruise line, is introducing new National Geographic Day Tours for summer 2023 and winter 2023/2024. These tours, designed by National Geographic curators, focus on education and sustainable tourism. The excursions are offered in small groups and led by local guides trained by National Geographic. Guests can explore unique destinations in France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Turkey, the Canary Islands, and Madeira while learning about the local culture and supporting sustainable practices.
The tours include experiences like a geologist-led hike to Barcelona’s Montserrat mountain, a tour of Rome’s mysterious underworld with an archaeologist, learning about the nature of Ibiza from an herbalist and beekeeper, and experiencing the terraced houses of Ephesus with special demonstrations in Kusadasi. In Athens, guests walk in the footsteps of democracy’s birth, and in Santorini, an archaeologist offers an exploration of the excavation site of Akrotiri, known as the “Greek Pompeii.”
All National Geographic Day Tours meet the Global Sustainable Tourism Council criteria and support research and sustainability programs through donations to the National Geographic Society.
AIDA Cruises currently offers a wide range of shore excursions, including approximately 780 with a focus on sustainable tourism, meeting social, ecological, and cultural standards. The National Geographic Day Tours can be booked in advance or directly on board for the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, and Madeira cruises.
