Airlines Cancel Flights To Israel
Multiple airlines have cancelled flights to Tel Aviv, Israel, after the Israeli government announced that it is on a war footing. The Federal Aviation Administration has also issued an “extreme caution” NOTAM for airlines flying in Israeli airspace.
US carriers United Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines have all temporarily suspended flights to Tel Aviv. Air France, Lufthansa, Emirates, Iberia Express, LOT, and Aegean Airlines have also cancelled Tel Aviv flights.
Some flights are still operating to the Red Sea tourist destination Eilat, but airlines are monitoring the situation closely and may make further cancellations if necessary.
The flight cancellations come after Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, launched a large-scale rocket attack on Israel on Saturday. The attack killed at least seven people and injured dozens more.
Israel has responded to the attack with airstrikes on Gaza. The situation is fluid and the conflict could escalate further.
- Israel and Hamas have been in conflict for many years. The two sides fought a 11-day war in May 2021, which resulted in the deaths of over 250 people.
- The current conflict is taking place during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, one of the most important holidays in the Jewish calendar.
- The flight cancellations are having a significant impact on travelers. Many people who were planning to travel to Israel for Sukkot have had to cancel their trips. Others who are already in Israel are struggling to get home.
The situation in Israel is fluid and dangerous. Airlines are taking precautions by cancelling flights to Tel Aviv and other parts of the country. Travelers should monitor the situation closely and contact their airline if they have any questions or concerns.tunesharemore_vert
