Beyond Cruising: Luxury South Beach Wellness

There’s a renaissance of the senses when landing in Miami. The tropical color buildings, twinkling turquoise waves, the scent of jasmine and saltwater, and the faint hint of Latin Jazz beats filling the air. There’s also a warm weather grandeur about South Beach — and it’s the antithesis of quiet luxury — everything is bigger, bolder, sleeker. One of the beautiful things about this unique city is the ability to curate your trip into exactly what you’re craving — and it was the perfect choice for me to experience a chill solo wellness getaway at W South Beach.

Upon check-in, guests receive a comprehensive schedule of W South Beach’s happenings — ranging from High-Intensity Interval Training Classes at the property’s DOGPOUND gym (yes, that NYC and LA gym that celebs can’t get enough of) to tropical smoothies to Tea Time Tranquility. I was thrilled by the countless options and the ability to create my own bespoke wellness schedule, and my solo South Beach trip was a dream. Worth mentioning, I had no expectations when arriving, but this isn’t just any W Hotel, it is ultra-glam cabana chic. It sparked the feeling when my departure time was creeping up that I should maybe extend my trip for just one more day. Yes, it’s a “just one more day” type of hotel.

If working on your personal fitness goals is more your style, you can also book a personal session with a DOGPOUND trainer in the W South Beach’s 2,500-square-foot state-of-the-art gym nestled on the 4th floor in the Away Spa. The gym is fully equipped with Peloton bikes, Fitness Mirrors, treadmills, a SoulCycle bike, a hydroelectric rower, weight machines, and free weights.

For those looking to get in touch with their inner zen, the hotel also has two onsite yoga class options. The first is a Restorative Flow with Miami’s beloved Ahana Yoga. The peaceful classes, great for all levels, and have gentle movement sequences and guided meditation to increase awareness and mindfulness from Thursday to Saturday at 9 a.m. on the beach. There is also an Aqua Yoga which infuses getting your warrior pose on with the gentle resistance of the water enhancing flexibility and balance at 8:30 a.m. on Sundays in the Pool. And if being in the ocean is more of your focus, there are watersport options available daily on the beach like paddle boarding, bodyboarding, and kayaks available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
