Bridge Collapse Affects Four Cruise Lines
The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore due to a cargo ship collision is impacting the cruise industry.
- Carnival Cruise Line is moving its Baltimore operations to Norfolk, VA temporarily, affecting the upcoming cruises of Carnival Legend.
- Royal Caribbean is assessing if a similar change is needed for Vision of the Seas.
- American Cruise Lines‘ current Chesapeake Bay cruises departing from Washington D.C. are unaffected, but they are monitoring the situation for their Baltimore departures later in the season.
- Norwegian Cruise Line has no current cruises to Baltimore, but they are in touch with the Port of Baltimore to see if their September and October cruises will be affected.
Due to the collapse of a bridge in Baltimore, cruises currently underway are being affected. Carnival Legend’s Bahamas cruise and Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas’ Southern Caribbean cruise depart from Baltimore, and they will only be able to return there if they are scheduled.
