Carnival Finally Shakes Booze Cruise Rep: Thank You Norwegian
Continuing to grow in popularity with cruise travelers, Port Canaveral has been chosen by Norwegian Cruise Line to host Norwegian Sun for 2018 sailings to Cuba and the Bahamas. Not exactly the most exciting news until we consider a substantial difference in the onboard experience. Following the successful launch of all-inclusive sailings with sister ship Norwegian Sky, that same model will be applied to Norwegian Sun. Like many other cruise lines sailing to Cuba, sending ships with considerable age on them works fine; the allure of newly-discovered Cuba is enough to look past that otherwise negative side of the story. At some point, that novelty will wear off though leaving the question: what to do now? Norwegian seems to have thought of that in advance.
Following a dry dock enhancement, Norwegian Sun will reposition to Port Canaveral to begin her summer 2018 season, sailing from Port Canaveral’s newly remodeled Cruise Terminal 10. So far so good, Port Canaveral becomes easier to sail out of all the time. Sweetening the deal, all guests sailing aboard Norwegian Sun’s Cuba or Bahamas cruises from Port Canaveral will enjoy unlimited complimentary beverages included in their cruise fare as a part of the ship’s all-inclusive program.
Our all-inclusive model aboard Norwegian Sky has been very well-received and as we evaluated the opportunity to expand upon that concept, we felt that Port Canaveral was the ideal location to offer our guests a value-rich on board experience and exciting action-packed ports-of-call, including an overnight call in Havana, Cuba,” – Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer for Norwegian Cruise Line.
- Interesting: Four-day cruises to Cuba will depart Port Canaveral each Monday, beginning May 7, 2018, and feature a call at Key West and an overnight stay in Havana, returning to Port Canaveral each Friday.
- The Kicker: Three-day cruises to the Bahamas sail on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, returning early Monday morning.
With all inclusive beverages for all dispensed in 12 bars and lounges aboard Norwegian Sun, this offering will truly become the new definition of a booze cruise. End of story.
