CDC Ratings: The Cleanest Ships At Sea

Cruise ship passengers are at risk of various illnesses, particularly gastrointestinal ones, with norovirus being the primary culprit. To combat this, the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program conducts yearly inspections and investigates outbreaks. These inspections assess ships’ adherence to health and safety standards, rating them as satisfactory (86 or higher) or unsatisfactory (85 or lower). This program aims to maintain high sanitation standards and prevent the spread of illness on cruise ships.
