American Cruise Lines‘ Cruising Close To Home focus is bringing a new ship to the North American river and coastal cruising company. The new riverboat will sail on the Columbia & Snake Rivers in 2021. That launch, combined with other new paddlewheelers and modern river boats more than doubles the existing American Cruise Lines fleet on the Columbia & Snake rivers.

American’s range of small ship styles allows them to offer a wide variety of cruises on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. 5-, 8-, and 11-Day itineraries sail from early April through October each year between Portland, OR and Clarkston, WA.

Just for fun, let’s look at their Mississippi River Gateway Cruise itinerary, sailing for 11-nights in September.

A tour is included at each port with optional tours also available. Onboard, two historians, a storyteller and a vocal trio. No inside cabins. A few riverview with window but most have balconies and a generous 304 sq feet.
