To embrace or shoo away travel by cruise ship right now would be premature. I’ve been saying “Press Pause” for a week. Do nothing. Buy nothing. Cancel nothing. Nothing. Updating that thought this week, we’re smak dab in the middle a process that will change travel by ship going forward. Pausing thoughts about the cruise industry continues to be a good idea. How long? No telling but probably sooner than later we will begin to speculate. That’s never a good idea and rarely a preview of the actual future we will experience. And therein is the problem. Cruise lines have always operated at a high level of efficiency on the topic of keeping passengers safe. The Coronavirus tears at their core. Quickly they added additional screenings of travelers boarding ships. While an evolving story, you can bet a higher level of pre boarding health queries will continue long after the virus is gone. A first real example of how the world of cruising will change; temperature scans and more intense screening is probably here to stay. Dream adjusted, slightly. It’ll be OK.
