Cunard Celebrates Queen Anne Naming, In Style

Cunard celebrated the naming ceremony of its newest ship, Queen Anne, in Liverpool, the company’s spiritual home and birthplace. The grand event attracted thousands of spectators and featured performances by renowned artists like Andrea Bocelli and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in Cunard’s 184-year history, commemorating the company’s deep-rooted connection to Liverpool, where its first transatlantic crossing embarked in 1840.

The naming ceremony of Queen Anne in Liverpool commenced with a unique performance by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by the City of Liverpool being named the ship’s Godparent.

Five “Liverpool icons” (No Beatles) representing the city’s heart and future were chosen for their cultural contributions and participated in the ceremony, which culminated in the traditional smashing of the champagne bottle and a memorable performance by Andrea Bocelli. Cunard’s president, Katie McAlister, thanked the icons and the people of Liverpool for their warm welcome and participation in this historic event.
