Delta To Further Segment Cabin Offerings In 2025

Delta Air Lines is set to enhance its cabin offerings by introducing further segmentation in 2025, providing passengers with more nuanced options than just main, Comfort+, business, or first class. During an investor relations day, Delta President Glen W. Hauenstein shared that the airline will start this initiative in the main cabin. The plan is to expand beyond the existing basic economy and standard main cabin options to include a third, potentially more luxurious category.

This new tier aims to offer a “best” experience within the coach section, possibly including amenities like free checked bags, higher boarding priority, extra legroom, or complimentary refreshments, which are not standard in the current offerings.

Moreover, Delta’s strategy isn’t limited to the main cabin. Hauenstein expressed intentions to apply this segmentation model across all cabin classes, including first class, aiming to cater to a wider range of passenger preferences and willingness to pay for enhanced travel experiences. This approach reflects a broader transformation planned over the next few years, where Delta will experiment with various fare bundles to understand what consumers value most.

This move is part of a trend where airlines like American Airlines have already segmented their main cabin into different levels with varying benefits, setting a precedent for Delta’s upcoming changes.
