Evolving Cunard Culinary Focus Brings New Venues, Delights
Cunard Line has a history of consistently delivering culinary excellence for 175 years. Attaining and maintaining that distinction takes an occasional evolution of what they do. That process is underway right now as the Queen Mary 2 Remastered project unfolds, touching nearly every area of operation. Now we have details of that evolving Cunard culinary focus. New dining venues on Queen Mary 2 should further define the Cunard of today. Of perhaps more interest to fans of Cunard Line; new menu items that will grace the tables of those spaces.
“We are pleased to debut refreshed culinary offerings on Queen Mary 2 Remastered, which we have created to appeal to the most discerning guests while revitalizing classic dishes and creating new ones.” -Richard Meadows, president, Cunard North America.
Cunard will introduce new dining options as well as a host of enhancements to each of the Queen Mary 2’s existing restaurants during the Remastering project. Far more than the occasional dry dock remodeling most cruise ships go through from time to time, the evolving Cunard culinary focus brings specific change.
Cunard Culinary Focus Brings Change
- Carinthia Lounge– the entirely new Carinthia Lounge that will serve alternative breakfast and lunchtime offerings together with bespoke premium coffees
- The Verandah- the addition of The Verandah restaurant evoking memories of the famous Grill on the original Queen Mary
- Kings Court Buffet- a completely transformed Kings Court Buffet
- Queens and Princess Grill menus– new menus and completely refurbished restaurants for guests staying in the suites and a new Smokehouse alternative dining concept.
In addition, menus in the existing Britannia Restaurant and Golden Lion pub, as well as Cunard’s famous Afternoon Tea selection served in the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar, will all be refreshed. Good news for Cunard fans: They are not changing anything about Fish and Chips on sea days in the Golden Lion Pub.
Cunard Culinary Focus Evolved
To make these new and refreshed spaces work, Cunard has teams of chefs, culinary experts and suppliers creating and testing new menu items at a new Development Kitchen in Southampton. Here are a few results of that effort which continues today
Many of the new menus are being created and tested at a specially-commissioned new Development Kitchen which has opened in Cunard’s homeport of Southampton. Here, teams of chefs have been working with other culinary experts and suppliers to create a wide range of new dishes to be served on board.
