Coming up this weekend, a trip to Barcelona for a look at Carnival Cruise Line’s new Carnival Vista.  The first new ship in the Carnival fleet since 2012, Carnival Vista will also be the largest at 133.500 tons.  Taking advantage of that extra space, Carnival Vista looks to have picked up the evolution torch right where last-new-ship Carnival Breeze left off, stepping (if not jumping) further away from the past and into the future.  Moving beyond artist renderings and into reality, Carnival photographer Andy Newman shares with us some Carnival Vista Preview photos that highlight a number of the 4,980-passenger ship’s features:

Traveling to Barcelona, we’re on assignment for USAToday, capturing our own images of all things Carnival Vista for one of their detailed First Look Galleries.  If you are not familiar with USAToday’s First Look Galleries, you should be.  Like the easy to use, full size deck plans offered at CruiseCritic.com , USAToday’s First Look Galleries cover nearly every square inch of ships ranging from ocean to rivers, budget to luxury, big and small.  Some favorites of mine include:

Right in line with our travel plans, the cover photo here shows Carnival Vista ahead of Holland America Line’s ms Eurodam.  After a quick look at Carnival Vista, we go to Rotterdam in advance of the dedication ceremony for Holland America Line’s new ms Koningsdam.  Prior to that historic event, we’ll go back in time to explore the 143-year history of Holland America Line.  Stay tuned for that too.
