Lindblad To Expand Galapagos Fleet With Celebrity Ships

Lindblad Expeditions has acquired Celebrity Xpedition and Celebrity Xploration from Celebrity Cruises, strengthening its position as the largest expedition cruise line. These two Galápagos expedition vessels will be refurbished and renamed before joining the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet next year.

The 48-guest Xpedition features various cabin options and dining venues, while the 16-guest Xploration is ideal for smaller groups. This acquisition leaves Celebrity Cruises with just one vessel in the Galápagos, highlighting Lindblad’s growing dominance in the expedition cruise market.

Lindblad Expeditions, a pioneer in Galápagos tourism since 1967, is significantly expanding its presence in the region by adding two more ships to its fleet. Partnering with National Geographic, Lindblad offers educationally focused expeditions on its existing vessels, the National Geographic Endeavour II and National Geographic Islander II, with various itineraries and departures.

This expansion doubles the company’s Galápagos fleet, reinforcing its commitment to promoting conservation and sustainable tourism through immersive experiences guided by scientists and researchers.
