Memorial Day is here and I wanted to share KURU Footwear’s report on the Longest and Shortest Airport Walking Distances in the U.S. in 2024!
The team at KURU Footwear measured the longest and shortest airport terminal walking distances in the US and surveyed 800 people to learn about air travel experiences so you can be prepared on your next travel day.
Here’s a quick look at some of the stats:
- The longest walking distances at airports are: Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (#1) at 2.16 miles, Washington Dulles International Airport (#2) at 1.62 miles, and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (#3) at 1.52 miles.
- The shortest walking distances at airports are: Blue Grass Airport (0.11 miles), Westchester County Airport (0.12 miles), and Harrisburg International Airport (0.13 miles).
- 58% of Americans plan to travel by air in 2024. 28% are unsure or don’t know if they’ll travel yet.
- 1 in 3 Americans travel a few times a year. 26% travel once a year, 8% travel a few times a month.
- The top reasons for travel are for a vacation (43%), to see family (21%), and for business (17%).
- Most Americans (34%) arrive at the airport two hours before their flight.
- 2 in 3 (66%) of Americans wear sneakers while traveling.
- 74% of Americans feel they walk more when traveling.
