Naming Of New Ship Captain Reminds Us How Good These Guys Are

Princess Cruises announced today that Captain Dino Sagani has been named master of its next new ship, Majestic Princess. He will lead a senior officer team with more than 100 years of seagoing experience among them.  The relief Captain position was appointed to another Princess Cruises’ veteran, Captain Craig Street. So why would you care about this? After all, Majestic Princess will be based in China year-round and home-ported in Shanghai.

The Princess announcement highlights the diversity and depth of experience that we find on the bridge of every cruise ship.  Most often, cruise ship Captains have been at it for decades on a variety of ships in many parts of the world.

Interesting to me, while different cruise lines may be competing against one another in the marketplace and vying to be our line of choice, at sea it is a different situation altogether.
