Norwegian Orders Four New Ships

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has placed a massive order with Fincantieri for four new cruise ships, a deal reportedly valued at over $9 billion. This finalizes a letter of intent signed in April 2024. These ships will be the largest ever built for Norwegian Cruise Line, each weighing approximately 266,000 tons and accommodating over 8,000 guests and crew with 5,100 berths. Deliveries are scheduled to occur every two years, beginning in 2030.

This order represents a significant expansion for NCL and a landmark achievement for Fincantieri, which calls it the largest single ship order it has ever received. Fincantieri has previously built two ships for NCL, the Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, and is currently preparing to deliver the Norwegian Aqua, the first of the Prima Plus class, later this year. The substantial value of this agreement is contingent upon securing financing and meeting standard terms and conditions.
