Seen While Cruising: Windows Of The World

I remember being in the restaurant business years ago, feeling ‘stuck’ in a job I did not think I could get out of.  Feeling the weight of a new family and the financial responsibilities that went along with it, travel was limited but I often looked out of the window of that restaurant, jealous of passersby who were ‘free’.  As I travel around the world now, I capture windows of all shapes and sizes and often wonder what the life of those inside is like.   Are they happy?  Do they enjoy life? I think of all that goes on in my head; where I have been, what I have seen, done and want to do. As I gather photos of windows while traveling, I realize those inside also have similar thoughts, of equal importance to them.   I may not speak their language, share a similar background or know their dreams but through these windows life flows, in and out, back and forth, through time.

“Set wide the window. Let me drink the day.”  ― Edith Wharton

In our gallery of cruise photos titled Seen While Cruising:  Doors Around The World, we featured big doors, little doors, new, old and everything in-between doors from the Caribbean, France, Germany, England, Scotland, Alaska and more.  In this gallery, we look at both sides of windows, what we see passing by and what we see from within, looking out at the world.  Both galleries are shining examples of what cruise travel can bring to our lives.  Regardless of the cruise line, ship, itinerary, stateroom selection or dining options, the places we visit have value…if only we take time to look through the window travel provides.
