WonderWorks Panama City Highlights Oceans

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), June is recognized as National Ocean Month, and June 8th is World Ocean Day. This makes June the perfect time to celebrate our planet’s outstanding oceans. All month long, WonderWorks Panama City Beach is encouraging guests to visit the upside-down house and have fun learning about the importance of our oceans and how scientists are working to conserve them.

“WonderWorks is the place to be for those interested in ocean life! It’s part of our mission to educate guests on all things STEM, so we’re excited to highlight several ocean-themed exhibits this month,” says Amanda Hizman, education sales manager at WonderWorks Panama City Beach.

This summer, families should be sure to make learning a part of their summer fun. WonderWorks Panama City Beach gives them the perfect place to do just that. Throughout June, locals and vacationers alike can celebrate National Ocean Month at WonderWorks by checking out the exciting exhibits that highlight life under the sea, plus the other hands-on activities that cover a variety of STEM topics. The exhibits provide interactive fun and attractions that will keep everyone entertained for hours.

Guests can learn about the importance of healthy oceans and their role in a stable climate as they explore exhibits like the I Think, Therefore I STEM display, currently highlighting marine biology. WonderWorks teamed up with SeaWorld and NOAA to introduce guests to the thrilling career path of marine biologists, offering a look at all they do. Aspiring scientists can also test their skills to see if they have what it takes to join this fascinating field.

Another stop guests will want to take advantage of is the How Cold Is It exhibit. There, they can learn about all things freezing and icy, including the frigid waters where the Titanic sank, the point of freezing of seawater compared to fresh water, the different types of ice, and more. Guests can also challenge themselves to the Titanic Ice Challenge, testing their ability to hold their hand under water in a 28 degree tank.

NOAA reports that the ocean covers 70% of the planet’s surface, containing 96.5% of the world’s water supply. Our oceans play a vital role in climate regulation, the economy, recreation, transportation, food, and medicine. It’s vital that we all play our part in protecting and preserving this major part of our ecosystem.

WonderWorks Panama City Beach is the ideal spot for cooling off after your time at the beach this summer and proves to be a fun indoor destination for those extra hot, humid, or rainy days.
