Crowds are packing the Colosseum, the Louvre, the Acropolis and other major attractions as tourism exceeds 2019 records in some of Europe’s most popular destinations. While European tourists helped the industry on the road to recovery last year, the upswing this summer is led largely by Americans, who are lifted by a strong dollar and in some cases pandemic savings. Commenting on the findings, Viorel Stan, CEO of SlotsCalendar.com said,

“Nothing screams romantic quite as much as a European getaway.

“Many of the places on this list are hugely underrated. Often, couples choose the more iconic locations like Paris, London, or Rome, which are classics, but can be expensive and are known for being scam hotspots, especially around big events and holidays.

“Additionally, these cities are always on the lookout for tourists and will hike up prices for hotels, especially around public holidays. So, if you’re looking for something different, and a bit more affordable, the cities that make this list can be a great alternative.

“Even if you’re not in a relationship, these locations can make great travel for friend groups. No matter your circumstance, there’s no doubt that a visit to one of the historic cities will make for an exciting excursion with whichever loved ones you choose to visit with.”
