WonderWorks Panama City Beach Plans Breast Cancer Awareness Event
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, making it a great time to put a spotlight on the critical issue that affects millions. WonderWorks Panama City Beach is honoring the month by offering special fundraising activities, events and more throughout October. The upside-down attraction on Front Beach Road has teamed up with Fore Her, a local organization that provides breast cancer support across the Emerald Coast to help raise funds and spread awareness.
“So many women are affected by breast cancer in one way or another during their lifetime, so we’re looking forward to spreading awareness and sharing recourses this October. You’re not going to want to miss these great opportunities to get involved in a fantastic cause!” said Amanda Hinzman, sales manager at WonderWorks Panama City Beach.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, around 240,000 women per year are diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S. While men also get breast cancer, they account for around 1 out of every 100 cases. WonderWorks Panama City Beach is giving guests several ways to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month during their next visit, including:
- Take on the Climb for a Cure Challenge from October 1-6, 2024 at the indoor ropes course. Make a donation of up to $5 for the cause, and WonderWorks Panama City Beach will match it to donate back to their partnering charity at the end of the week. Those who donate will receive a WonderWorks sticker and breast cancer awareness ribbon.
- Come together October 7-13, 2024, to color the HOPE Wall and sharing a breast cancer story. This community artwork project will give everyone a chance to share and connect. Guests are invited to use #wonderfulhope when posting their photos from the project on social media to spread the message further.
- Get creative by visiting the pop-up card-making station in the lobby from October 14 to 20, 2024. Supplies will be available to make a card for someone touched by breast cancer, including survivors, patients, healthcare workers, and families.
- Grab a new “Think Pink” t-shirt from the WonderWorks gift shop to show support for the cause out in the community and know you’re giving back. WonderWorks will donate5% of the proceeds to their partnering charity.
- Score free admission tickets. Near the end of the month, a special local breast cancer survivor will be gifted a family pack of free tickets to experience WonderWorks. Watch social media channels for details and information on how to nominate a deserving family.
“Pull out your pink shirts and plan a visit to WonderWorks during Breast Cancer Awareness Month!” said Darren Grooms, general manager at WonderWorks Panama City Beach. “We’re all about education and supporting the community, so our entire team is honored to host an amazing fundraiser for a great local organization and other exciting activities.”
Looking further ahead this fall, WonderWorks Panama City Beach will celebrate National STEM/STEAM Day on November 8, 2024. They will offer special interactive demonstrations and science experiments throughout the facility to give guests an up-close look at all things STEAM. WonderWorks will also be unveiling the new version of their Word Up exhibit. They are continuing their partnership with Merriam-Webster Dictionary to give visitors the scoop on some of the latest words that have been added to the dictionary and a look at how words are formed. Guests can also try their hand at a new, updated interactive word scramble.
